On the shore of Lake Erie, south of where we live, Port Burwell is a tiny village which features a languid stretch of exquisite beach in a provincial park. While walking about half of its length, I spotted this obviously elderly piece of driftwood which is slowly but inexorably being washed smooth by incoming waves. It seemed to me on revisiting the photo that a sense of isolation is certainly part of the mood of the shot, especially with the tiny lighthouse out on the end of the point giving a sense of proportion to the location of this woody relic.
I used a Topaz Adjust 5 Vibrant filter - Bold - on this photo, to bring out details in the waves and it also added a cooler tone to it, which I think adds to the lonely feeling I was looking for.
WOW - it almost looks like a hand coming out of the sand...great find
ReplyDeleteThe lighthouse is that Detail that makes an excellent photo extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteLovely lonely scene. I can almost hear the waves coming on shore.
ReplyDeletethis driftwood looks like a sea creature, love his reflection you've captured in the sand, I stuck my toes in Lake Erie on the Canadian side once COLD, everything in this photo is so pretty
ReplyDeleteLove the crisp water droplets coming off those waves. You are right isolating (and a little chilly) but really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeuatiful shot! Your processing added to its impact.
ReplyDeleteThis is a "keeper"... should be framed and hung in a gallery.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! Love the great lakes!
ReplyDeleteA timeless image, I love that the lighthouse is so tiny in the distance. The root wad's reflection in the wet sand gives a good balance.
ReplyDeleteYour capture of the waves is great and the distant lighthouse contributes much to the mood of the scene too.
ReplyDeletegreat find for this theme - and well processed. The lighthouse certainly adds to it's appeal.
